°° Rhythm and Blues diva Alicia Keys is heading to Cannes, but unlike other stars, she is not going to the coveted film festival. Instead, the singer is throwing a major boat party there.
The party is a serious power-schmooze affair where Alicia hopes to steal a march over her pop rival Christina Aguilera as they battle it out for the same major Hollywood role, reports The Sun.
The two singers have reportedly been short-listed to play the lead role in the movie, "5th Commandment" which is based on the "thou shalt not kill" clause of the Bible's Old Testament.
While Christina is reportedly confined to her recording studio in America where she is working on her new album, Alicia is making sure that she lands herself the role by inviting the makers of the film to her party.
A whole lot of famous Hollywood names, including Steven Spielberg and Brad Pitt, have been invited to the 10 million-pound bash.
"They are the only two names left on the list for this role. Alicia is determined to win the part so she's heading to Cannes to try to impress the big casting agents, directors and producers. She's spending a fortune," said a source.

° The New York Post reports that Christina Aguilera's people insist she has not sung a note since her doctor's warning last month. "The only thing she has done is a Mercedes-Benz photo shoot." PopDirt.com
° According to Groovevolt.com, Christina Aguilera is said to be very upset with what one of her employees said was a New York Post report that she canceled her tour because ticket sales were not up to par. "She wants the media to stay out of her life," the employee said. "The story hurt her dearly and she wants her fans to know that she had no intention of canceling even if the tickets sales were down. She is very upset and is planning legal action." PopDirt.com

° She might have canceled her three-month tour due to her "strained vocal cords", but as they say, you can't keep a fish out of water for long. According to the New York Post, Christina Aguilera was back rehearsing last weekend. "Christina was rehearsing with two backup singers and two dancers in a studio in Burbank. It sounds more like she will do a pared-down tour," a source was quoted as saying. (ANI)
